When Starlight pressed up against him, he felt his tawny pelt prickle a bit. He breathed in her warm scent. Although it was a bit changed, he could still smell the same scent that had been with him all though his cubhood. “Well, you don't have to be alone anymore. Not even death will take you away from me again.” The male's purr was low and rumbling, almost like thunder as he rested his head on top of Starlight's. “I suppose this means that you won't have a problem with me moving in?” he murmured teasingly, “It would be such a hard journey up to those cliffs! I hope you don't mind me staying in your cave with you!” He gave her a happy nudge with his nose as he pressed against her. He found that he didn't want to be separated from her, not now. All he wanted to do was to drink in her scent and to take in her now beautiful face. Gone was the fuzz of cubhood, and her feral shape was pleasing to his eyes. He found he was a bit horrified that he would think of his best friend in this way, and yet he didn't try too hard to suppress the thoughts.

Starlight took a deep breath, taking in his smell and warmth. She couldn't have been happier as she cuddled up beside him, her fur pressed against his fur. She felt as if she were whole again. Like everything would be okay as long as he never left her. It was an odd feeling for her to feel as well because she had grown use to being on her own and only looking out for herself but she was glad that she now had someone in her life to share things with. She knew now that he would look out for her and she would look out for him. Just like they use to do when they had been cubs. She chuckled softly at his words, a feline smile spreading across her mouth as she closed her eyes happily. "Of course I don't have a problem with you mving in." She replied, a laughing purr bubbling up in her chest. They sat there like that for a few minutes before Starlight raised her head and opened her eyes again. "So what would you like to do now?" She purred, a sparkle of mischief in her eyes as she watched him interestedly.

Granite pretended to give a thoughtful pause, even as his mind raced. It raced with thoughts of Starlight, her scent, her fur, her movement. He was surprised he hadn't seen it earlier. The signs were all there, but he ignored them. Being around her made him feel renewed, and less of a tired-out shell of a puma that was emotionally drained. “Hmm...Well, normally, I would say food, but after that 'feast' I had earlier, I don't think I'll have to eat for several days! But, really, the first thing I would like to do is...” For a moment, his green eyes made it appear as if he were thinking, and then a mischievous flash glimmered in his eye and he leaped at Starlight, attempting to playfully pin her to the ground. “...get even with you!” What he was referring to was that the last time they wrestled, Starlight had won. In fact, she would win a lot, but it's not like he did win sometimes too!
ooc- If we really want to make it seem like lion king, Starlight will win this tackle match! XD

Starlight yowled in happy surprise before wrestling with him for a bit before pinning him to the ground underneath her, a proud and sly grin on her face as she looked down at him. "Pinned ya." She said with mischief shining in her golden green eyes. Her and Granite were pretty evenly matched when it came to them play fighting. She was faster and more agile than he was which made it hard for him to catch her and hold her in one spot for very long. But he was definitely bigger than her and had more muscle than she did simply because he was in fact a male and she was a female. But when it came to their wrestling matches, she usually won most of them but he did catch her by surprise sometimes and was able to claim a victory for himself. After a moment, she climbed off of him and began to lick her ruffled fur, her eyes slightly closed but watching him. She pretended like she wasn't paying attention to him because she knew he would try and tackle her again so that he could pin her. But she would be ready this time.

/Not again! Well, at least I know that I'm definitely not wrong about her being the right Starlight!/ As usual-er, as what SOMETIMES happened, Starlight, the slim female that she was, won. Granite wasn't going to let her win a second time. No, not him! He push himself to his large paws and first firmly shook his tawny body. After that, he began to walk toward her as if he was planning to walk past her. Then he leaped at her again, determined to give her a good fight. This time he was prepared for it if she tried to slip though his paws and he was ready to roll so that she would be under him when she tried to wriggle out again. Unfortunately, he hadn't done anything like that since they were cubs, so he never thought that there was a chance for him to roll too far.

Starlight felt a sly grin slid across her muzzle as she watched him pretend like he was going to walk past her but she knew better than that. He lept at her and she was ready. He had her down at first, his heavier weight and stronger muscles winning for a moment over her agile body and trained movements. But when he tried to roll her over so that she was underneath him, she pushed herself back up causing him to roll some more which ended up in him being underneath her once again. She smiled down at him, pinning his shoulders to the ground with her large paws, tilting her head a little and shaking it as if to say 'I can't believe you actually thought you could beat me'. "Pinned ya 'gain." She stated with a hint of laughter and attitude in her voice. She couldn't help but laugh at him when he reminded her so much of the puma that he use to be when they were cubs. Oh how she wished that she were still a cub when everything was so simple and easy.

Granite pushed her off grumpily, muttering, “It was just luck.” A memory flashed through his mind, reminding him what happened the last time he had to throw someone off him. Granite was thrown to the ground and pinned, forced to watch as the cub he had been protecting was mercilessly slaughtered. “You're weak, just as father foretold. You'll NEVER be strong!” whispered his older brother into his ear...Days later, the dusk light fell over the camp. “Granite, because of your actions you are no longer one of us,” growled his father. “Not like I care! You disown me? No, I disown YOU! You can fester here with your hate and your fear, and I will be free! I hope you die a dishonorable death!” For only an instant as he looked at Starlight, his eyes hardened, and then it was gone and his eyes were glittering with humor as they always had as a cub. “Come, show me your territory! We need to catch up!”
ooc- I was thinking about them finally realizing they love eachother the same way Simba and Nala did; Granite luckily lands onto of Starlight when they tumble down a sand dune, and she licks him. After all, he might not catch on first that he's in love with her. XD

Starlight smiled over her shoulder at him before turning and walking off. She doubted he would try it again, not with the chance of him losing for a third time in one day. But you never knew what Granite was thinking and that was part of the reason Starlight had enjoyed playing with him so much when they were cubs. "Very well, come on and I will give you the grand tour." She answered, strolling casually across the warming tan sands of the desert she now called home. "Not to much to see really, there's the smaller cliffs over there and then the sand dunes are just ahead." She began, nodding towards the small jagged rocks that were sticking up in the distance before she continued forward, climbing up towards the top of one of the big sand dunes. She glanced over her shoulder at him, her golden green eyes shining and a smile was still on her face as she climbed all the way to the top of the dune and then turned to face him. Her glistening tan pelt blended in perfectly with the color of the sand and the black tip of her tail twitched in amusement as she waited for him to catch up to her.

Granite bounded up the slope of the sand dune with pleasure, almost bouncing like a cub. Hidden emotions swirled behind his eyes, as his thoughts raced. He felt a little guilty for not telling her. Out of all creatures in the world, he knew he could trust her, yet he still held back a little. Could she tell? He wasn't sure. She seemed so familiar, yet a little different. He had found her now, and that mattered. He didn't want to trouble her, when she clearly already had a bad enough life of her own, with his troubles. “I bet those cliffs are better for climbing than this sand! But it's not as high as the time we tried to climb the tallest mountain!” he called to her, as he continued to struggle upward. Gritting his teeth, he took several large bounds up the slope, and it was there that he saw his chance to repay Starlight for his earlier losses. Instead of settling in next to her, his final leap brought him on top of her. He expected to pin her at the top of the sand hill, but later, he would remark it was worth getting sand in his fur.

Starlight was caught by surprise when she suddenly felt all of her weight knocked to the side and both her and Granite began tumbling down the sand dune. She tried to growl in fake anger but instead ended up laughing as they wrestled their way down the dune. When they finally reached the bottom, Starlight rolled on top of Granite, trying to claim a third victory for herself but instead ended up underneath him when he finally won out with his strength. The loose sand made it hard for her to struggle and get away from him. And instead of rolling him back over when she wiggled, she just ended up deeper in the sand making it even harder for her to move. Finally she let her muscles relax as she accepted defeat. She knew she couldn't win all of them, especially this one. With a sigh and a smile, her golden green eyes gaze up at him with sparkle of some strange emotion that she hadn't felt in a long time. Even she wasn't sure what it was but all she knew was that she liked it and didn't want it to leave her.

As they slid down the hill, Granite strove to keep the upper paw, not feeling happy as sand attempted to get into every crevice under his fur. When they finally made it to the bottom, he found himself still on top of Starlight, and so he grinned joyfully, his green eyes sparkling in the light even as his huge tawny paws continued to stay firm. “Now I pinned YOU!” he exclaimed with a laugh. Oh for the days when they were kits! /Considering it helped me win, I supposed the sand isn't as bad as I had thought it was!/ As Granite gazed into Starlight's eyes, he saw a strange sparkle, and he felt it warm him, and he could have stayed there forever. But Granite was a simple puma. Most of the time, feeling like this had to hit him over the head before he realized exactly what they were. Finally, he decided it was time to let Starlight up and began to step back from her.

Starlight continued to smile up at him and rolled her eyes as he claimed the victory for himself. He had deserved it and it wasn't that big of a deal considering that she knew his ego was probably a tad bruised after he had been beaten by a girl twice in a row. She supposed that she could throw him a bone this one time. "Yup, ya got me." She replied with a hint of sarcasm in her voice as she lay limply beneath his strong body. They both stayed perfectly still for the longest time, both just staring into the eyes of the other as if they were communicating in a way that only they could understand. Finally, Starlight lifted her head towards Granite and licked his softly on the cheek, a bashful look crossing her features as she lay her head back once more. Her golden green eyes glanced away from him for a moment before flickering back up to see what his reaction was to her sudden action.

When Starlight reached up and licked him, Granite froze, his eyes widening in shock. /She licked me! She really licked me!/ The male puma's thoughts raced faster than they ever had, jumping from one thing to another, the feel of Starlight's fur as he brushed up against her, the way the sun caught her eyes, her scent... it hit him all at once. Although to him it seemed the thoughts took hours, they actually took a matter of seconds. A slow smile began to creep across his face, and his normally hard eyes softened as he returned Starlight's bashful look with a tender one of his own. Although he did step off of her so that she could stand up, Granite reached down with his head to rub up against Starlight, suddenly purring with happiness. But hidden fears that lurked within Granite were also awakened by this action, and sooner or later they would come to the surface.

Starlight smiled at him as well as she gazed up at him. When he climbed off of her, she leaned up a little so she was sort of laying down but sort of sitting up as well. When he nuzzled her after she licked him, she felt a rush of relief flooded through her as she immediately realized that he felt the same way about her that she felt about him. She had been so afraid of rejection that it had taken all of her bravery and courage to reach up and lick him. And yet in that single movement, she had told him and showed him how she felt about him and how she had felt about him after all these years. When he nuzzled her, she felt her heart fill with warmth and the same new feeling that had rushed through earlier. She smiled at him as well, breathing in his now familiar scent and loving the warmth and feel of his fur against her. A content sigh escaped her softly as she nuzzled up against him as well, a smile still playing at the sides of her mouth.

Granite's emptiness filled up, almost as if he could feel Starlight's love warming him. He had been alone for so long, even among his own family, that he barely knew the feeling and it took him off guard. He began to return her lick of affection with a smile, but then sudden pain flashed through his eyes and he drew back, his body tense. “Starlight, I...love you just as much as you love me, but think of how long we've been apart. I've had experiences that you don't know about and vice-versa. If you knew what I knew about myself, I'd wonder how you could love-” The male puma's voice soften to barely a whisper that was hard to hear. “-a weakling like me.” He paused, looking away from Starlight in shame. “I couldn't ask you to live with my shames, my weakness. I don't want to cause you any pain, so you have a right to know, you of all pumas. I've always dreamed that some day I could talk about it, but now... it just makes me feel as sick as the day it happened...”
